2019 Student Paper Contest – A Christian Vision of Technology

The Center for Pastor Theologians is pleased to officially announce our second annual Student Paper Contest. As was the case in 2018, our student paper contest corresponds to our conference theme for 2019.

Techne: A Christian Vision of Technology

The modern world presents Christians in general and pastors in particular with many profound and complex questions related to a biblical vision of and for technology. The rate of technological advancement in human culture has accelerated significantly in the last 200 years, and then accelerated again in the past 20. How should Christians think about smartphones? Artificial intelligence? Genetic technologies? Multi-site church? Virtual reality? Contraceptive technology? Social media?

Submissions for the 2019 Student Paper Contest should be related to a biblical and/or theological vision for technology for Christians. Papers submissions should be written as works of biblical studies, systematic/biblical theology, historical theology, practical theology, or a related field. Papers will be judged for overall strength of writing, scholarship, and relevance for life and ministry in the local church.
